Course Overview
This program is designed for participants interested in pursuing the career of Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO).
Completing the course will not grant participants HEO certification to operate as a licensed Heavy Equipment Operator. While the course is designed to prepare participants for the next steps in pursuing a career as an HEO, the course completion will not grant a license to operate heavy equipment.
Heavy Equipment Operator is one of the key professions in the construction industry. The construction industry employs over 1.4 million people in Canada and generates over 141 billion to the economy annually. The construction industry is responsible for creating and maintaining the infrastructure for our communities and cannot function without skilled Heavy Equipment Operators.
This program is delivered entirely online in self-study format with ability to perform (in a controlled environment) general duties of Heavy Equipment Operator. Participants can expect:
- 100 hours of activities packed program aiming to introduce participants to the role of HEO.
- Interactive program components including simulations which will allow participants to explore the typical workday of HEO.
Flexible delivery options allow participants to complete online components based on their schedule. The program can also help accelerate the next step of a participant’s career if they choose to pursue further training in a specific construction heavy equipment area.
