Course Overview

In this course, learners will explore critical elements of occupational health and safety, including personal protective equipment (PPE), job site safety and conduct, and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).

Through engaging course materials, real-world case studies, and demonstrations, learners will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to create a secure work environment.

This course goes beyond theory, emphasizing practical application to empower individuals to contribute to a culture of safety in their workplaces. This course is designed to enhance learner understanding of health and safety practices through three 1-hour modules.

Implement Job Site Safety and Conduct:

  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments effectively.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Develop emergency response plans for different job site scenarios.
  • Foster a culture of safety within a work environment.

Navigate Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS):

  • Explain WHMIS regulations and the obligations they impose.
  • Classify hazardous materials according to WHMIS standards.
  • Interpret labels, symbols, and safety data sheets (SDS) effectively.
  • Understand the key changes and updates from WHMIS 1988 to WHMIS 2015.
