Overview

The practice of financial reporting is paramount for maintaining the mechanisms of imperialist control. In this course, students will learn the necessary components that compromise financial reporting, particularly with a focus on the audit process – especially keeping the context of reporting to Indigenous Services Canada in mind. Learners will develop the knowledge and understanding necessary to navigate and communicate in matters of financial reporting.


Competencies

  • Demonstrate understanding of concepts pertinent to financial practices and integrate them into a practical application contextualized around reporting on the fiscal and legal relationship between the Government of Canada and varying First Nations People.
  • Develop financial reading skills and integrate aspects of intermediate financial theory to explain practical aspects of financial reporting in the ongoing fiscal and legal relationship between the Government of Canada and varying First Nations People.
  • Identify, Collate, and Synthesize relevant financial information in the context of reporting financial matters while also demonstrating capability of presenting data and summarized findings based on industry-standard expectations and format.
